Van Hool, an independent Belgian bus, coach and industrial vehicle manufacturer, is to build 58 trambuses for Trondheim in Norway, where they are set to enter service as from August 2019. The Lier-based bus manufacturer has signed a contract with Nettbuss and Tide, the local operators who run the buses on behalf of AtB, the public transport company in Trondheim, to supply 58 bi-articulated (24-meter long) hybrid (HVO diesel-electric) Exqui.City model double-axle-drive trambuses.
The Glider is the name for the 30 Exqui.City diesel-hybrid trambuses that will be delivered for the city of Belfast.
Van Hool, the independent Belgian bus, coach and industrial vehicle manufacturer has won a contract in Pau, France, to supply 8 Exqui.Cities, known as "tram-buses", powered by hydrogen. The use of hydrogen buses is not only a first for France it is also a world first for a full BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system with 18-metre-long articulated tram-buses.
Koningshooikt - Van Hool, the Belgian independent manufacturer of buses, coaches and industrial vehicles, has secured a contract with the Department for Regional Development of Northern Ireland for the delivery to Belfast Rapid Transit (BRT) of 30 single-articulated Exqui.City hybrid trambuses. Delivery of the vehicles is scheduled for 2018.
Van Hool, the independent bus, coach and industrial vehicle manufacturer located in Koningshooikt, Belgium, has reached an agreement with LINZ AG LINIEN, the public transport operator in the Austrian city of Linz and the surrounding area. The agreement concerns the supply of twenty 24-metre, double-articulated, fully electric and zero-emissions Exqui.City tram-buses. Delivery of the first prototypes of the tram-buses is planned for the first half of 2017. All vehicles are to be in service on lines 41, 43, 45 and 46 in Linz, and the wider area, towards the end of 2019.
Van Hool will present a concept model of the Exqui.City, the so-called “tram-bus” representing high-level public transport, at the biennial UITP Congress in Milan, Italy (June 8-10, 2015 at the MiCo - Milano Congressi). With this concept model, Van Hool offers a solution to the ever increasing demands of passengers and public transport companies for comfortable, punctual, flexible, environmentally-friendly and cost-effective public transport.
In Bergen (Norway) Van Hool has delivered 2 Exqui.Citys- the 24-metre hybrid version with a biogas-electric engine - which will both be operational in the second half of 2014.
In collaboration with Scania, we created the Van Hool Scania ExquiCity. It 's a new way to travel. The bus operates on either gas or biogas to provide a low-level environmental impact.
The bus features a futuristic design and focuses on maximum passenger comfort with spacious interiors and the transport flexibility of a tram.
These buses are in line with the sustainable image Scania stands for.
The Exqui.City for TEP, an 18 meter trolley bus, was officially inaugurated in Parma on 22th April. They will provide a new and efficient way of transportation for people in Parma. There will be a total of 10 Exqui.City's in operation in Parma.
Van Hool, independent manufacturer of buses, coaches and industrial vehicles, has delivered a first Exqui.City to the city of Malmö (Sweden). In the coming weeks, 15 of these 24-metre hybrid (biogas-electric) tram-buses will be shipped to Malmö via the port of Zeebruges (Belgium).

On Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM, Mettis, the new public transport-system in Metz (France) was officially inaugurated, in presence of Mr. Jean-Marc Ayrault the French Prime Minister, Mr. Jean-Luc Bohl, President of Metz Métropole et Mr. Dominique Gros, le Maire de Metz et vice-President of Metz Métropole.
Van Hool is presenting the first example of the new Exqui.City design Geneva (TPG) at the biennial UITP congress in Geneva, Switzerland (26-30 May 2013 at Palexpo, Geneva). It is an 18-metre, articulated trolley version of the Exqui.City, of which the company responsible for public transport in the canton of Geneva, TPG or les Transports Publics Genevois, has ordered a total of 33.
The public transport company Sales-Lentz of the Luxembourg city of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg ordered 5 diesel-hybrid buses from Van Hool.
Van Hool is previewing the Exqui.City Design Mettis at Transports Publics, the biennial European mobility exhibition in Paris (Porte de Versailles, from 5 to 7 June 2012) for the public transport sector. It is a 24 metre long, bi-articulated bus with a diesel-hybrid drive system that will be used for public transport in and round the city of Metz (France) from September 2013. Mettis, Metz’s public transport project, has ordered 27 Exqui.City buses.
Van Hool has signed a contract with Nobina, the largest passenger transport company in Scandinavia, to supply 15 CNG hybrid Exqui.Citys that will be used to carry passengers in Malmö and the Skane region in Sweden from June 2014.
The public transport company TMB of the Spanish city of Barcelona ordered 3 diesel-hybrid buses from Van Hool. The deliveries will start in the first quarter of 2013.
The public transport company T.E.P. (Trasporti pubblici Parma) of the northern Italian city of Parma ordered 9 hybrid trolley buses from Van Hool and Vossloh Kiepe. The two partners have many years of experience with trolleybus projects. The deliveries will start from mid 2012.
At the UITP congress and exhibition in Dubai iVan Hool presents the ExquiCity concept.
Besides the existing comprehensive range of buses for public transport Van Hool now launches a Multi Propulsion Platform that serves as the basis for the vehicles for BRT Projects. The specific design and the special interior give the necessary cachet to high level public transport.
